Man dies in fire

(Fort Frances, ON) - On September 30, 2009 at approximately 11:00 pm, Fort Frances OPP, Fort Frances Fire Department and Fort Frances Ambulance responded to a report of a house fire at 23 Palmcrest Drive in Fort Frances, Ontario. Emergency crews were on scene within minutes of receiving the call. Fire fighters worked hard to extinguish the flames while OPP canvassed bystanders and initiated their investigation into the blaze.
At approximately 11:20 pm, members of the Fort Frances Fire Department located a deceased body inside the residence. The Fort Frances OPP will be assisting the office of the Ontario Fire Marshall to determine the cause of the fire. An officer from the Ontario Fire Marshall’s office is currently on scene and is conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire. OPP officers are also on scene assisting the Fire Marshall.
The deceased has been identified as Aldon MORPHET, aged 64 years, a resident of Fort Frances. A post mortem has been ordered and will take place in Thunder Bay at the Regional Health Science Centre on October 2, 2009.
