Last Wednesday 19 students from Riverview Elementary School in Rainy River competed in the annual Cross Country Meet at Crossroads School in Devlin.
There were over 400 runners competing there from Atikokan to Rainy River to Dryden. Coach Mark Jodoin said, “Nine runners were in the top seven. They all did really well!”
Of those there were two that finished first in their age groups. Elizabeth Fraser was first in the grade six girls group with a time of 11:12 for the 2 km. run.
Skylar Arpin won the grade eight girls with a time of 13:14 for the 3 km. run.
Other Riverview finishes included:
Nolan Short-2nd gr. eight boys, 13:07-3 km.
Jackson Arpin-2nd gr. four boys, 12:09-2 km.
Patrick Vogan-6th gr. five boys
Hayley Arpin-5th gr. six girls
Jenna Jarvis-5th gr. 8 girls
Zach Tolen-7th gr. 8 boys
Lemuel Carradice-7th gr. four boys.
Jodoin noted that some of the runners are looking at traveling to Thunder Bay on Oct. 24, 2009 for the Mid-Canada Cross Country Run. “Crossroads was a good warm up for them.”
“There was excellent effort by everyone from Riverview. We still have not received team results but I am sure they were good!” said Jodoin.
