Coach's Corner
The top two teams and the top ten individuals from each race advance to state on the St.Olaf campus in Northfield Nov. 6.
More than four inches of biting, blowing snow fell in the Bagley area Friday, Oct. 30, so conditions were less than ideal for fast times at the Section 8A meet. Nevertheless, Atikoken’s Victoria Alexander will make her second trip to the Minnesota State CC Meet after her third place finish in a field of 122 girls in the 4000-meter race. Rainy River’s Emily Fraser missed advancing by just two places, finishing 12th. The girls finished a respectable 6th in the 18-team field and will return all but two varsity runners next season.
The order of the boys’ varsity runners changed up a bit in Bagley, however, sophomore Bryan Hasbargen had one of his highest large-meet finishes of the season, placing 25th of 124 runners. He has found a racing style that works for him, and has continued to gain confidence in each race of the season. Senior Nolan Lapos finished off his CC career coming in third for the team – his highest team spot of the year. All but Lapos will be back for the 2010 season.
