Use the internet to access the RR Library
By Michael Dawber
Assistant Librarian
The Rainy River Public Library invites you to cruise into audiobooks in Overdrive.
Overdrive is the new, on-line service bringing audiobooks to your library. All you need is your library card and some freeware to download a great selection of hot fiction and new non-fiction.
This is how it works. Go to downloadcentre.library.on.ca, click on “My Account” and then pick “Rainy River Public Library.”
You will then need to sign in with your library card and your PIN number.
If you don’t have your PIN number yet, just call the library at 852-3375 or drop by during regular hours.
Once you’ve signed in, you can download for free the software you need to get the audiobooks.
You can then check out the audiobooks for one or three weeks. By choosing books in MP3 format, you can download the audiobook you want to any MP3-compatible player.
And that’s it! Our Overdrive page has helpful guides and FAQs to walk you through every step.
Overdrive is just one of the many new on-line services at your library.
Did you know you can renew your books and search our library collection on the internet? Just visit our iBistro catalogue website at rainyriver.jasinorth.ca.
You can see all 10,500 items in the library, place holds, renew your books, or get a suggestion from our reading lists.
Some of the many new arrivals you can see in the catalogue include: the movie Brokeback Mountain, The Year of the Flood by Margaret Atwood, An Echo in the Bone by Diana Gabaldon, and The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown.
If you are waiting for the latest issue of your favourite magazine from the library, you can see that on-line, too. Each magazine title is now marked with the newest arrival.
To use your library account on-line, you will need your library card number and your PIN.
You can even visit the Rainy River Public Library on Facebook!
Our Facebook page includes library news, upcoming events and reading suggestions. If you become a Friend of our page, you can receive regular updates.
