Grace M. (Meunier) Proteau, 88

On December 13, 2009 at the La Verendrye Hospital, Fort Frances, Ont, Grace M. Proteau of Rainy River, Ontario, passed away with her family by her side at the age of 88.
Grace was born on December 6, 1921 in Blue Township, Ont to the late August and Lilah Johnson. She attended Pratt- Blue # 4 School and Rainy River High School. Grace loved to knit, crochet, liquid embroidery and sew. She made many beautiful quilts for the family. Grace always looked forward to joining the women at the bakery for coffee. She was member of the Rainy River senior drop in centre. She took great pride in doing things with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Grace is survived by her children Gail Jonassen (Wayne McCarthy) of Rainy River and Ronald (Patricia) Meunier of Thunder Bay, Ont. Grandchildren John (Sara), Lorne (Tonja), Bradley (Aime), and David (Carol); great grandchildren, Brock, Kelsey, Jarred, Rian, Kodi, Hunter and Ashton.
Grace is also survived by sisters Ruth Rogoza and Shirley (Roy) Gadd, and brother Roy (Joselyn) Johnson, sister in law Ilene Johnson and numerous nieces and nephews and special friend Don Bolen.
Grace was predeceased by her parents August and Lilah, husbands Adelard Meunier and Edward Proteau, brothers Wesley (Dulcie), Wilfred (Jean) and Charles Johnson, sister in law Shirley Johnson, son in law Edwin Jonassen, and brother in law Matt Rogoza.
Funeral service was held on Wednesday December 16, 2009 at 1 p.m. from Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, Rainy River, Ont. Father Alan Albao Celebrant. Interment took place in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Rainy River.
Pall Bearers were John Jonassen, Lorne Jonassen, Bradley Meunier, David Meunier, Walter Rogoza, and John Johnson.
Honourary Pall Bearers were Margaret Livingstone, Vivian Hartnell, Mary Desorcy, Betty Blight, Darlene Armstrong, and Audrey Paulson. Ushers were David and Ken Rogoza.
