Emo to complete an inventory of its assets

Communities in Northwestern Ontario are working to attract new business and strengthen their economies with the support of the Northern Communities Investment Readiness Program (NCIR).
The Township of Ignace will study the commercial potential of the local municipal airport with a view to making it a catalyst for economic development.
The Township of Emo will complete an inventory of the community’s assets to attract entrepreneurs and investors.
The Lake of the Woods Development Commission will hold a seminar in Kenora on Brownfields redevelopment. Specialists will explain legislation governing Brownfields, its linkages to other industries, and potential impacts of redevelopment. The Thunder Bay Economic Development Corporation recently held a similar seminar.
“These and many other northern communities are using the NCIR program to identify opportunities for economic growth and diversification," said Michael Gravelle, Minister of Northern Development, Mines and Forestry.
*The province is supporting these economic development initiatives with $13,875 from the NCIR program.
*To date, more than $1.8 million in NCIR funding has been approved for 200 initiatives across the North.
*With NCIR funding, the Greenstone Economic Development Corporation was recently able to promote the community on the internet attracting new investment in the form of a laboratory operation.
