Baudette train station to house artisans' market

By Joanne Kellner

The Depot Preservation Alliance (DPA) in Baudette, MN, has recently received a grant award from the Region 2 Arts Council in the amount of $1000.
The grant funding will assist the DPA in securing arts planning assistance for the planned creation of an Artisans’ Marketplace in the renovated Baudette Depot. The Marketplace will serve as a work and show venue for area artisans, provide arts access to ages from youth to elder, expand area arts educational opportunities, and celebrate the cultural heritage of area residents and visitors.
The DPA will be working with Artspace USA consultants and utilizing their on-line consulting toolkit. This mini-consulting resource will assist in clarifying initial interest and ideas around the development of the Artisans’ Marketplace.
Area residents are invited to participate in this assessment and planning project by sending a letter to the DPA; P.O. Box 1238; Baudette, MN 56623. Please include your contact information and area of interest/expertise. Planning sessions will begin in March.
