Nordin rink begins its quest to go to the brier

The Tim Nordin curling team from the Rainy River District began its quest for the Dominion Northern Ontario Provincial Championships in Sudbury yesterday afternoon.
Their first game was at 3 p.m. against the Phillips rink from Sudbury. Nordin lost 7-8 after an extra end.
They played again at 8 p.m. against the Salo rink of Geraldton. After three ends Nordin was winning 3-1. Final scores were not available as the paper was put to bed Monday evening.
Nordin and his teammates Mitch Seguin, Travis Showalter and Mike Badiuk also play today at 9:30 a.m. against the Pozihun rink of Port Arthur and again tonight at 8 p.m. against the Scharf rink of Port Arthur.
While the games are not being broadcast locally, fans can go to the website www.2010northernontariomensprovincials.com and click on any draw to see the scores. In fact the site is updated every five minutes so one can follow the scores as they are posted.

9:30 a.m. vs. Burgess of Port Arthur
Page Playoffs #1 and #2 begin at 8 p.m. Saturday.
Sunday
12:00 p.m. Semi-final
8:00 p.m. Finals.
Note: All times are in Eastern Time.
If Nordin wins the event he and his team will represent Northern Ontario at the Brier. This is Nordin’s third trip to the provincials.
