Telford Tremblay, 91
Telford Tremblay, age 91 years of Rainycrest Long Term Care, 550 Osborne St., Fort Frances, Ontario passed away at his residence on Saturday, January 30, 2010.
Telford was born on June 23, 1918 in Rainy River, Ontario to the late Fred and Delia Tremblay. During WWII, he served overseas for six years with the Canadian Army in Germany, Scotland, England, Holland, and France until his discharge on January of 1946. Following the war, Telford returned to the Rainy River District where he lived in Rainy River on River Road going North. There he worked hard in the bush, on the farm, and for John Quick Fisheries. Upon leaving the the Rainy River area, he moved to Fort Frances where he worked for Vic Pearson and Sons at Pearson’s Landing. While in the Fort Frances area, Telford was a long time Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 29. He later moved to Devlin for a short time, and then to Sig and Jean Pearson’s where they always had a home for him until retiring to Rainycrest.
Telford is survived by first generation nieces, Irene Usiski, of Winnipeg, MB., Riza Semochko of Penticton, B.C., and Leone Matthew of Regina, SK. He is also survived by many second generation nieces and nephews in Canada and the United States; and by his very close friends Sig and Jean Pearson.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Emery, Elmer, Ralph and Fred; sisters, Florence, Riza, and Bertha; and nephews Elmer, William and Herman.
Cremation will take place at Rainy River Cremation Services in International Falls, Minnesota.
A memorial service to celebrate Telford’s life will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, Ontario with Father Jose Marattil officiating. Interment will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Rainy River, Ontario at a later date. The Royal Canadian Legion Br 29 Color Party will provide their tribute during the service.
The honourary pallbearers will be all of Telford’s close friends.
