Province increases fines for dangerous driving habits

(Dryden, ON) - Effective January 1st, 2010 the Ontario Government increased the fines for persistent dangerous driving offences:
-Failure to stop at a red light has been increased from $110.00 to $325.00.
-Failure to wear a seat belt and failure to ensure passengers under 16 are properly secured has been increased from $110.00 to $240.00.
-Careless driving and failing to remain at the scene of a collision has increased from $390.00 to $490.00.
-Failing to stop or slow down for an emergency vehicle and following a fire vehicle too closely is now $490.00 and three demerit points.
