Hampton and Rafferty to discuss HST on the net

Howard Hampton, the Member of Provincial Parliament for Kenora-Rainy River, and John Rafferty, the Member of Parliament for Thunder Bay-Rainy River, will be teaming up March 12, to host an online town-hall to discuss the proposed Provincial/FederalHarmonized Sales Tax (HST).
Over the past few months both Hampton and Rafferty have spent a great deal of time working to raise awareness of the proposed tax and its potential impact in Northwestern Ontario, which both agree will be have an extremely negative impact on families, small businesses, seniors and first nations communities.
“The problem is so many people are not aware that this is even happening,” says Hampton. “Both levels of government have rushed it through after making a backroom deal to blend the two taxes and increase the cost of living significantly in a region that is already struggling after years of being ignore by both levels of government.”
Hampton and Rafferty hope to combat that lack of awareness by taking questions on the new tax and pointing out what can be done to fight it during the online session.
The webcast, which will feature a full chat will take place March 12 at 4:00 p.m. CST, or5:00 p.m. EST, at http://www.johnrafferty.ndp.ca and http://www.NWLive.ca embed code is also available for any media organization wishing to post the live event on their own Website.
