Gun toting woman arrested

On April 16, 2010, shortly before 4pm, the OPP Provincial Communications Centre received multiple calls from the public regarding a female who appeared intoxicated and was waving a hand gun as she walked along Colonization Road East near the overpass in Fort Frances.
Fort Frances OPP officers attended immediately and located a female walking down the north side of the overpass acting erratically. Police had to stop traffic on the overpass while they took the woman into custody. Officers affected their arrest and the female was taken into police custody without incident.
Further investigation revealed that the female was intoxicated and the gun was a black plastic replica.
Cheryl SPADE, age 19 years, of Ignace, Ontario was arrested and charged with Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code of Canada. SPADE is scheduled to appear in Fort Frances on May 17, 2010.
