Town to hold birding symposium

Dear Editor,
Birds, Birds, Birds; On May 1st, 2010 Rainy River will finally take a important step forward on a much talked about reality of our town and area. We will have a birding symposium at the Rainy River Activity Depot. We will have two speakers present to address us and following each we will have a Q & A session. Mr. John Vandenbroeck will speak on Birds at risk, and apparently we have some in our town and area. This is a very interesting topic, one on which the town can take a active role.
We also have a very well known birder, Mr. Elder from Atikokan to talk of birding. Mr. Elder is probably the premier Birder and resource person on birds in our area.
This meeting is open to the 1st - 40 people to register. The meeting will start at 10 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. You must register with Andrew Hartnell at the town office. The town will be providing lunch.
The Tourism & Promotion 20-20 Committee is bringing this idea forward as a means of developing a very interesting future for Rainy River and area tourism. We are sorry we can only accommodate 40 at this first meeting. Please register quickly.
Thank you,
Councillor Gord Armstrong & Tourism Chair Gill Stamler

P.S. We also have a 20-20 open meeting at the rec centre April 21, at 4:30 p.m.
