Campbell named Director of Education for public board
At the April 6, 2010 Board meeting in Fort Frances, trustees of the Rainy River District School Board announced the appointment of Heather Campbell as Director of Education.
Heather Campbell has served the Board as Superintendent of Education since September 1, 2006, and has acquired over 14 years of public education experience. She held positions of increasing responsibility within both the elementary and secondary panels, as a high school English teacher, Secondary Curriculum Coordinator, elementary vice principal, and elementary principal. Heather Campbell holds a Masters of Arts Degree, Bachelor of Education Degree, and Supervisory Officer’s Qualification Program designation.
During her tenure as Superintendent of Education, she was instrumental in significant accomplishments such as the consolidation of Robert Moore and Huffman schools, the $1.2 million reinvestment in SMART technology, and the provision of programs that focus on academic excellence and community responsibility. She recognizes that the continued strengthening of partnerships within the Board’s diverse communities is essential to providing a rich and varied educational experience that enhances student success.
“It is both an honour and a pleasure to be selected to lead the Rainy River District School Board,” stated Director of Education, Heather Campbell. “The excellent work of former directors of education, including John McLeod, Warren Hoshizaki, and Jack McMaster, has created a culture of student success that is pervasive in all aspects of our organization. I look forward to working collaboratively with staff, parents, and community partners to enhance opportunities for our students.”
