Colors, Hair and Make-up opens in Rainy River

In these hard economic times Danielle Levenec is bucking the trend in Rainy River having just opened her new salon Colors, Hair and Make-up!
Located at 217 Sixth St. in Rainy River, her and boyfriend Neil Ivall have renovated the former Vivian Smith home and included her new business in their home.
Levenec is new to being in business for herself, but is not new to the industry. She spent about 4.5 years working at a salon in Winnipeg, MB.
When they bought the Smith house last September, “I knew I wanted to put a shop in here!”
With the final job being completed just prior to the Rainy River Trade Show, Levenec rented a booth at the show and began spreading the word about her new business. “It was great! I picked up quite a few appointments from it!”
She is also nearly booked solid for Rainy River High School prom on June 5th. She is not open regular business hours. Instead she is taking customers on an appointment basis. She is offering services to both women and men. While the name of her business suggests she specializes in colors, hair and make-up she says, “I like doing colours but I enjoy doing everything!”
She was interested in doing make-up after she became a hair dresser so she decided to take some schooling to add that service to her resume. In fact she says she tries to take additional schooling every year or two to keep up to date with the trends.
She is also working at the Northern Lights Credit Union in Rainy River. Her hours for appointments are flexible. To book one call her at 852-4531.
Her boyfriend, works at the Ainsworth Mill in Barwick and is the son of Heidi and David Ivall of Rainy River.
Levenec says she likes it here. “Both my parents grew up in small towns, Sundown and Sprague. It is a good fit for me!”
