Government resolves Indian Residential Schools issue

The Honourable Anne McLellan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister responsible for Indian Residential Schools Resolution Canada, the Honourable Irwin Cotler, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, and the Honourable Andy Scott, Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development announced today that the parties involved have reached an Agreement in Principle toward a fair and lasting resolution of the legacy of Indian residential schools.

Fighting the fight RRHS works on improving enrollment

While Best Start has been in the headlines as a possible solution for keeping the schools in Rainy River viable, other work has been going on to try and bolster enrollment at the local high school.

Local All-stars defeated 12-5

Nearly 300 people were treated to a great game last Wednesday as the NHL Oldtimers faced off against the Rainy River All Stars at the Rainy River Arena.
The game started with all the fanfare of an NHL hockey game. Dorothy Leininger and Ericka Tymkin sang both the Canadian and American national anthems while the players lined up on the blue lines.

Snowmobile club gearing up for busy winter

A meeting was held November 3rd to decide the fate of the club. It was to be a do or die meeting. ‘A few more people than usual attended the meeting which was great.
