This is the ugliest bird we have in Ontario. There are uglier ones on other continents.

This is the second part of the ‘year in review.’

This past week I was called upon to drive into Winnipeg for medical tests. We left early Friday morning and travelled along highway 11 to Rainy River, then across northern Minnesota from Baudette to Warroad and then north on Highway 12 to the Trans Canada.
The area was under a severe blizzard warning that stretched across southern Manitoba, northern Minnesota and Northwestern Ontario. Listening to the radio, one would have thought twice about travelling, but medical tests necessitated travel.

Frigid.
Freezing.
Frozen.
Frosty.
No matter which way you say it, it is very cold as I write this.
Over the past few weeks we have had quite the blast of winter.

On December 5, 2013 the Fort Frances Community Action Team in conjunction with the Thunder Bay Drug Enforcement Unit intercepted a courier package containing approximately 8 pounds of marihuana. The parcel was shipped from British Columbia and destined to an adult male from Emo, ON.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Frank Nesbit, after a battle with cancer on December 19, 2013 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 56 years.

It is with deep sadness that the family of Kathryn Oakes-Sisco announces her sudden passing on December 20, 2013.
