Credit unions are not your typical financial institution. They are democratic, membership based, and not-for-profit financial institutions that are an important part of northern and rural communities. Unfortunately, the Harper Conservatives have chosen to raise the income tax for credit unions and will ultimately punish their members.

Sometimes you don’t realize how fortunate you are until someone shows you. As I sat by our chimera on Sunday evening and the logs burn to red-hot coals, I had forgotten the pleasure a fire can bring in the waning daylight hours.

On August 1 by-elections were held in five ridings in Southern Ontario, as a result of the resignation of four former Liberal Cabinet Ministers and former Premier Dalton McGuinty.

For years I have enjoyed watching the birds at the feeders when I am at my fiancee's place in Bemidji.

James John Carson McQuaker passed away on Wednesday July 24th, 2013 at the Emo Health Centre in his 93rd year. He was born on September 5, 1920 in Pattullo Township on the farm his parents, William and Annie McQuaker homesteaded. He attended Pattullo #8 school. He met Iris Corrine Pearson when she came to teach at that school in 1943. They were married in Emo on December 29, 1944.
