Sometimes I am a coward. Sunday afternoon, I found every excuse I could to not watch the Canada US hockey game. I spent the afternoon in the garage sanding two pieces of furniture that I am making for the cottage. I have this feeling that if I am watching a crucial sporting event, I will affect the outcome. I know that it doesn’t make any sense, but coincidence seems to bear some truth to this superstition of mine.
Friday night, I chose to work in the garage and not watch the Slovakia contest until the third period, and it was then that Team Canada began to come unglued.

I think people were a bit premature last week when they declared "Own the Podium" a failure.
No we did not have the highest medal totals of all the countries; the United States did with 37.

It is with great sorrow that Elvis, Amanda, and Bethany Comegan announce the passing of a loving wife and mother, Elaine Mary Comegan (nee Kestle). Elaine went to be with her Lord, peacefully at home, with her family by her side, early Wednesday morning, February 17. Elaine was born in London, Ontario to Donald and Marion Kestle, on April 2, 1960. After the death of her mother, Elaine was raised by her grandparents, George and Ella Tinney, of Exeter, Ontario. As a teen, she accepted the Lord Jesus into her life and devoted her life to serving Him.

Emily Jane Embury (nee Hartnell), age 90 years, passed away February 18, 2010 at Rainy River Health Centre Long Term Care, where she had been a resident for five years to the day.
