Old idea recycled in Rainy River

After several years absent from Rainy River recycling has returned.

Fabiola Lacroix, 78

We regret to announce the death of Fabiola Lacroix on January 2nd at the age of 78 years. She loved to fish and hunt and was also a trap shooter of which she won several awards. She was also known for her artistic excellence in painting, hand embroidery, knitting and sewing; and she was a shutter bug, never missing a chance to take a picture of the family. She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene; one son, Ronald and by three brothers: Raymond, André and Rhéal Charpentier.

Laura Viola Dyck, 77

On Tuesday, January 01, 2008, with her family at her side, Laura Viola Dyck of Rainy River, Ont., went to be with her Lord, at the age of 77 years.

Elizabeth Marie Blight, 90

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear mother, my sister, our grandmother, our great grandmother, Elizabeth Marie Blight, at the age of 90 at the Rainy River Hospital.

Many of us have made New Years resolutions.

To carbon tax, or not to...

In the United States, democratic candidates at a debate in New Hampshire were asked whether or not they would support a carbon tax. Overwhelmingly they rejected the proposal citing that such a tax would fall on to the shoulders of consumers. Yet Nobel Prize winner Al Gore endorses the idea of a carbon tax.
Canada’s political leaders have also rejected the proposal noting that it would impact most heavily on oil and natural gas producing provinces and users of petroleum products.
