I wish Christmas was more than one day
Christmas sure takes over our lives this time of year.
It usually begins in early September with the arrival of the Sears Wish Book. From there it accelerates.
Advertisers begin inundating us more and more steadily through every avenue possible.
As we grow accustomed to the message that the big day is getting ever so close we begin to think about what needs to be done to get ready for the holidays.
Some of us bake many different kinds of goodies and freeze them for the occasion.
Others shop feverishly looking for that perfect gift for their loved ones.
Then there is the decorating. I myself spend quite a bit of time decorating outside, hopefully before the snow flies (just made it this year)! This past weekend I decorated inside and wrapped presents.
Others practise for special holiday events like choir concerts, dance recitals and of course school concerts.
All of these activities consume so much of our time and gear us towards the celebration of the birth of Christ.
Like one song says, "It is the most wonderful time of the year!"
I love it. I just wish all the work and preparation was for more than one day.
–Until then, Ken
