Brennan/Halverson win the Lake of the Woods Walleye Challenge

The fourth annual Lake of the Woods Walleye Challenge was held this past Saturday and Sunday in Morson.
Each team was allowed 2 fish over 18 inches and 2 under per day. Organizer Pat Handorgan, Sr., said, “All the teams limited out. There were lots of fish caught both days.”
There were 20 teams competing, down from 40 the previous year. “I started getting cancellations on Friday when the weather went bad. But Saturday and Sunday were not that bad on the lake,” said Handorgan.
Winning the tournament was Terry Brennan and Todd Halverson of Nestor Falls. They had a two day total of 30.39 lbs. and won $2,000.
In second were Reuben Gibbins and Lynn Indian with 24.55 lbs. They won $1,000.
Rounding out the top six were:
3rd-Cory Larocque and Cathy Seguin with 24.4 lbs. They won $600.
4th-Mark Brusven and Krista Wood with 23.33 lbs. They won $400
5th-Kevin Yerxa and Dana Gate with 23.16 lbs. They won $300
6th- Todd Hacauit and Gary Unger with 22.72 lbs. They won $300.
Other prizes were as follows:
•Hidden wt.-Dan and Bryce Godin with 15.76 lbs. They won $300
•Husband/wife team-Reuben Gibbins and Lynn Indian. They won two rods and $300
•Big Fish, Day 1, Terry Brennan and Todd Halverson, 7.2 lbs. They won $250. Day 2, Kevin Yerxa and Dana Gate, 6.23 lbs. They won $250.
•Angler Draw, Mark Brusven and Krista Wood. They won two dip-nets.
Handorgan said the tournament was huge success. “But we could not have done it without all the sponsors and volunteers.”
