On Wednesday, December 18th the students and staff of Our Lady of the Way School hosted a Christmas Luncheon and Concert.
Principal Mr. Hyatt welcomed everyone to the school and the Fraser family were invited to light the Advent candles. Mrs. Elaine Medicine and Ms. Sarah Hunter, two long time and respected staff members, prepared Wild Rice Soup and Fry Bread. The main course was accompanied by fruit and vegetable trays with a delicious selection of dainties for dessert which were generously donated by the Catholic Women’s Leagues from Emo, Stratton/Pinewood and Rainy River respectively. Approximately 50 people were on hand to share in this delightful meal and fellowship. The luncheon was immediately followed by the Concert. The students, under the direction of Mrs. Wood and Mr. Jones, performed a poem entitled “The First Christmas”.
After the choral reading the students sang “Little Drummer Boy” and “The Peace Song”. The crowd was then delighted with a performance by the Grades 3-8 Band which has been guided by Mr. Hyatt. Mr. Hyatt introduced the small band and explained that the students have worked very hard over the past few months. They pleased the crowd with their versions of “Good King Wenceslas”, “Dreidel” and “Jingle Bells”. The concert was a huge success and the Staff and Students were very pleased to host so many family and community members, as well as the Director of Education, Mr. Rick Boisvert.
