Catholic board acclaims Chair and Vice-chair
The Trustees of The Northwest Catholic District School Board are pleased to announce that at their Annual Meeting held on December 7th, 2013 Chair Anne-Marie Fitzgerald and Vice Chair Cathy Bowen were acclaimed as Chair and Vice Chair for another year.
Anne-Marie Fitzgerald represents the town of Fort Frances and has served on the Board of Trustees for twenty years. She has served in the position as Chair for five years. Chair Fitzgerald is also on the Provincial Executive of the Ontario Catholic School Trustees’ Association representing the North for the past four years. Chair Fitzgerald said, “I am honoured to serve the Board as Chair for another term, and thank you to the Board for the trust they have in my leadership.”
Cathy Bowen from Sioux Lookout was acclaimed as the Vice Chair this year. Cathy has been a Trustee for ten years and has served as Vice Chair for four years. Trustee Bowen said, “The dedication and passion of our teachers and staff is evident in everything that happens at our schools. Thank you again for trusting me to represent our Board as Vice Chair; I will continue to work hard for Northwest Catholic. We will continue to focus our partnership with our schools, homes and Church, as we “Serve in the Light of Christ”.
Director of Education Rick Boisvert congratulated both Trustees on being acclaimed as Chair and Vice Chair of the Board. “I am pleased that both Anne-Marie Fitzgerald and Cathy Bowen will continue to serve as they are strong advocates of Catholic education within our Board and more specifically our students and their families. They represent our Board well both locally and provincially. I have great respect for all our Trustees and for their dedication and commitment to serve the student and their families within The Northwest Catholic District school Board.
The Northwest Catholic District School Board is proud to service the communities of Fort Frances to Rainy River, Atikokan, Dryden, Sioux Lookout and our surrounding First Nations communities. The Northwest Catholic District School Board employs 84 teachers and 67 support staff serving 1333 students in 6 schools across Northwestern Ontario.
