Peter Cotton Tail has marked his calendar for a stop in Rainy River this Easter! Yes the Easter Bunny will be making a special stop to hide eggs at the annual Rainy River Kids’ Easter Egg Hunt!
The event will take place on April 19th at the Rainy River Recreation Centre. It all starts at 9 a.m. with a pancake breakfast to give egg hunters the nourishment they need to find eggs! All proceeds from the free-will donation breakfast go to the Rainy River Sk8 Park project!
At 10 a.m. activities will begin on a rotating schedule. There will be three age groups, and “Depending what age you are will determine what activity you will do at what time,” said Rec. Director Kam Kuzyk.
Kuzyk who had been set to leave the post as Rec. Dir. has had to stay on an extra couple of weeks as the replacement was not able to come the first of the month.
The age groups are 0-3, 4-7 and 8-13. The two youngest groups will hunt for eggs outdoors at Riverview School. They will be given colour strips and asked to find the same coloured eggs as on the strip and bring them back to the Rec. Centre. Each of them will then receive a treat from the Easter Bunny!
The older age group will hunt in teams of three in the basement of the Rec. Centre, in the dark. They will gather eggs for prizes!
Each of the egg hunts will be staggered at different times. While one group is hunting the others will be participating in age appropriate games or craft activities.
All participants need to pre-register for the event by Monday, April 14th to be guaranteed a treat from the Easter Bunny. Register at the Best Start Hub, RR Rec. Centre or Riverview School.
