Keep it coming

Dear readers:
My name is Mike Behan and I’ve been the editor of the Fort Frances Times since May 1, 1990. I first started with the Times in June, 1987 as the sports reporter after graduating from Carleton University in Ottawa with a Bachelor of Journalism degree.
Over the past 29 years, I’ve been proud to call Fort Frances (specifically) and Rainy River District (in general) home.
During the course of my journalism career here, my primary goal always has been to produce the best community newspaper as humanly possible week in and week out. I also firmly believe journalism is a cornerstone to our democratic society by keeping residents informed about the events, issues, and decisions affecting their respective communities.
As such, I invite and welcome those who have contributed news articles, columns, and photographs to the Rainy River Record over the years to continue to do so for the Fort Frances Times. I especially encourage residents to continue writing letters to the editor to voice your opinions on matters important to you and your community.
Please send your submissions via e-mail to I also can be reached at 274-5373 ext. 235 if you have any questions or concerns.
I look forward to receiving your submissions and continuing the fine tradition the Rainy River Record has set for almost a century of showcasing your town and surrounding areas.
Mike Behan
