Like losing a family member

Dear Rainy River Record,

With the Record ceasing publication it's like losing a member of the family. I began my association with te RRecord shortly after the end of World War II. The paper evolved from hand picking type form a type case to linotypes and finally to offset printing. The latter process was a boon to small weeklies. It opened the opportunity of being able to incorporate photos with local news articles. At one time the circulation of the Record soared to nearly 2000 weekly copies.
Even so, costs of production was escalating, advertising was decreasing and the preferred postal rate for small weeklies ended. All these combined, made a difficult decision to cease publication necessary.
And so, life goes on

Sincerely,
Len Ricci
