(incumbent
councillor)
Political/Community Experience:
For the past year and a half, it has been my distinct privilege to serve as councilor for the Town of Rainy River
Why are you running for office?
I grew up here in Rainy River and after high school I moved away. But time went on and I was eventually drawn back by my love of this town. I have currently lived here for 13 years. My wife, Christine, and I have raised our son here. Like you, I value the quality of life we have built here together and understand the importance of protecting it for the future.
What do you think is the biggest challenge facing Rainy River?
Whether you are a property owner or a tenant in Rainy, you have made an investment in our community. I believe that it is important the following projects should be addressed in order to help our town become an even better place to live:
* Efficient and reliable town services (sewer, water and road infrastructure)
* Economic development
* Fair and predictable property taxation
* Recreation
If elected what do you plan to do about it?
During my time in office I have had the opportunity to serve on many committees. This has given me the chance to see how the town is running. I have seen some good things happening. I have also seen areas that need to be improved and some projects that need to be finished. I would like the opportunity to continue with this work.
Do you have a plan or platform you are running on?
I continue to believe that we must make appropriate investments in infrastructure and find ways to fund it responsibly. At the same time we must be vigilant in examining the resiliency of our services - such as water, sewer, fire, parks and recreation programs - to ensure they meet your needs in a cost-effective manner.
I also believe that we must bring new people to our town by promoting what we do have such as: doctors, dentist, a wonderful hospital facility and our schools to name just a few.
