J & E's Unique Variety owners Jon Laviolette and Elissa Gamble, center, along with their sons, Aiden Fontaine, left, and Cahlum Fontaine, right, opened their doors for business over the weekend.

A brief ceremony was held on Friday at the Rainy River Public Library to unveil the new book shelves, made possible by a grant from the Trillium Foundation. Seen here cutting the official ribbon are Linda Armstrong, Chair of the Library Board; Michael Dawber, CEO Librarian; Gord Armstrong, Trillium committee member/Town Councilor, Gord Prost & Deb Ewald, Mayor of Rainy River.

As always the RR Legion looked sharp leading off the parade.

The Fun Fly and air show (radio controlled planes) attracted many enthusiasts this weekend. Many camped on the grounds and during the day showed off their planes with acrobatic flying skills.

Rubber Duckie Boat, Taya & her mom Shannon Hagarty gave it their all during the Duct Tape Boat Races here on Sunday. They won the award for best theme boat.

Though they gave it their all the Super Heros were not super enough to prevent their boat from sinking.
