Many events make change for the better

This week was a busy one in Canada and around the world with many events having long term implications at home and abroad. Here is a recap of some of the events and my opinion on how this is likely to affect things moving forward.
The first really big development, and I do mean big, was the announcement of Canada’s largest ever capital expenditure; the awarding of the $33 billion worth of shipbuilding contracts over the next 30 years.

Getting prepared for winter

For a month and a half, I have been negligent in attending to my yard. I have used the excuses that Marnie and I were travelling, the great weekends should be spent at the cabin and the best of all, it is getting dark too early.
I suspect that my neighbors have been wondering when I was going to rake the leaves, because they were growing tired of continually raking their lawns as the leaves from my lawn blew east across Victoria Avenue. I even felt a little guilt of watching them rake, as I walked off to work in the afternoon.

Canada Student Loans worried Student Loans are at risk

OTTAWA, Oct. 17, 2011 /CNW/ - Student debt in Canada has nearly reached a legislated ceiling of $15 billion and the government, without taking action, will legally not be allowed to loan any more money to students. This is according to figures in the recent report released by Canada Student Loans Program (CSLP).

Local OPP Seeking Assistance

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – Rainy River District OPP has recently investigated incidents involving property damage. The cases remain open and officers are asking the public to notify OPP if anyone has information regarding the following crimes.
Break and Enter – On August 30, 2011 culprit(s) broke into a garage on the 1000 block of Second Street East in Fort Frances. The individual(s) responsible entered the building by forcing entry through the side door of the garage. Items stolen include a camera, a hand held GPS, a yellow Bass Pro Shop bag with fishing tackle.
