While there have been no confirmed cases of the H1N1 flu in Rainy River District School Board Schools, there has been a notable increase in absenteeism of late.

Thys Sinninghe passed away on Monday October 26, 2009 at the La Verendrye Hospital after suffering a stroke. Thys was born on August 2, 1922 in the Netherlands.

Peacefully with his family by his side on October 30, 2009 at the Rainy Crest Long Term Care, Fort Frances, Ont, Stanley R. Nelson formerly of Bergland, Ont passed away at the age of 73.
