A bloodsucker on your leg can give you the willies! But let's not be too hasty in our criticism of this lowly creature.

I’d like to start off this week’s column by wishing you a happy Canada Day and hoping that you will all find some time to relax, enjoy the long weekend with your friends and family, and reflect up

International Falls and its media often refer to this region as borderland. It is a great way of branding this section of Northern Minnesota and Northwestern Ontario. Koochiching County, Lake of the Woods County share a border with the Rainy River District that runs for over a hundred miles and shares lakes and rivers.
The communities of International Falls and Fort Frances and Baudette and Rainy River have built up friendly rivalries. They also share and support each other.

It has been and has the potential to be an even bigger and more entertaining part of the Canada festivities.
I am speaking of the KidSport duck race that was held here on Canada Day.
