Thank you to our troops!

Dear Editor,

Lack of transparency not a surprise

Last week, outgoing Auditor General Sheila Fraser presented her final report to parliament. The final report covered several topics, as is normally the case, but the most awaited chapter in this edition was the chapter that reported her findings on the G8-G20 fiasco last year. As usual, Ms. Fraser did not let us down.

NIMBY

NIMBY. Not in my back yard is heard commonly in every town across the country. It was part of the mandate of the Liberal party in the last provincial election to move Ontario residents away from coal. The alternatives were wind, solar, hydro and nuclear power.
The government of Ontario has made a commitment to the voters of the province that new electrical power generation would come from green sources. The province has provided carrots to companies that are using natural gas, wind and solar energy to create power to make Ontario a green province.

Back at work to rest

Just coming off a two week vacation, one would expect me to be extremely rested.

Body of second boater found on Lake of the Woods

(Kenora, On.) On Monday May 23, 2011 Kenora Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised of overdue boaters in the Morson area on Lake of the Woods. Two males out fishing in a 16’ boat had not come off the lake before dark as expected. The OPP Marine Unit from Kenora was activated and attended the area in search of the boaters.

On Tuesday May 24, 2011 officers located one deceased male on shore. He was subsequently identified as 73 year old James WEALTHER from Addison Illinois.
