Riverview hosts Track & Field

Riverview School held the Junior and Intermediate Track and Field last Thursday and Friday. The medal winners for the Junior's which were held on Thursday, June 9, 2011 were as follows: Grade 4 boys - Jackson Arpin from Riverview School with 18 points. Grade 4 girls - tied Lynelle Westover and Rebekah Fraser from Riverview with 13 points each. Grade 5 boys - Sekina Scheibler from Sturgeon Creek with 14 points. Grade 5 girls - Mika Kooistra from SCAP with 15 points. Grade 6 boys - Cole Tymkin from Our Lady of The Way with 20 points.

Barbara Zebleckis, 73

Unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at her residence in Morson, Ont, Barbara Zebleckis passed away at the age of 73.

Alexis Sharp and Mitchell Haw, celebrate all their hard work as the first to walk down the runway at the Rainy River High School Prom 2011. This years theme was "Project Runway". Many family and friends attended the Saturday evening event.

Special deputy!

Constable Aaron Dubray of Rainy River O.P.P. shows off one of the special deputies, a teddy bear, that is now standard equipment on local police cars. The bears are used to comfort kids involved in traumatic situations like auto accidents.

Clean, Green & Safe

Across the district, at the boundaries of every community, signs are placed telling residents and visitors alike that they are passing through a Safe Community. The designation came first from Safe Communities Canada, then the World Health Organization and has been renewed regularly.

Luminaries - Remember a loved one

Luminaries are candles that are placed in special bags that bear the names of cancer survivors and loved ones who have lost their battle with cancer.
