One of the toughest tasks of my new job as a Member of Parliament is cutting through the noise and clutter that sometimes dominates national media coverage, and which requires me to set the record straight about where I stand on some issues. This week it seems that I need to address some of the confusion about where I and the New Democrat caucus stand on the upcoming budget.

As a former resident of Rainy River it is with great enthusiasm that I view photos and read stories, online, of the people and places we knew for seven wonderful years.

How different are the ways of the Republican and Democrat parties and their political counter parts in Canada?
