Kenora-Rainy River Alzheimer Society representative, Mary O'Connor, far right and volunteers Marlene McNally and Bob Johnston presented RR Mayor Deb Ewald with a flag to display at the town office in an effort to raise awareness during January which is Alzheimer Month.

The New Year’s Baby for 2015 is Arielle Marie Shana Andrushuk. She was born at Riverside Health Care’s La Verendrye General Hospital site on January 2nd at 9:32 pm weighing in at 7 lbs. Proud parents are Alexandra Andrushuk and Brayden Baldwin, of Fort Frances Ontario.

Ralph Armstrong-skip, Todd Armstrong-third, Stacey Armstrong-second and Jackson Armstrong-lead won the 'A' Event at the annual Rainy River Boxing Day bonspiel.

Riverview Elementary Students have been busy decorating LCBO bags with a message, "Don't Drink and Drive. Last Thursday they presented their bags to Constable Guy Beaudry to be delivered to the RR LCBO where patrons will get their products in the decorated bags. Riverview School's Grade 8 boys volleyball team went completely undefeated all season! Most recently they won the Regional Championships in Fort Frances and before that they won the Gilson Classic and Crossroads Invitational Tournaments. The Rainy River High School Senior Girls Owls Basketball team travelled to Wawa last week to compete for NWOSSA gold and won! They defeated the Michipicoten Vikings two games straight, 48-32 and 53-33. Next stop are the All Ontario playoffs in Cornwall, Ontario later this week.
