Construction zone grows

Work on infrastructure in Rainy River spread from Main Street to River Avenue West last week. Crews are seen here beginning work on that street's water line. The road will also be built up to help prevent future flooding by the Rainy River. All work should be completed this fall.

Spectacular!

The Rainy River Fire Department capped off Canada Day festivities last Wednesday with a spectacular fireworks display that was synchronized to music this year!

In the dust!

Liam Fergusen-George, of McCrossen Tovell School (Bergland), left the competition in the dust in the Grade 8 1,500 m race last Tuesday at the Intermediate Track Meet at Riverview School.

Main Street job in full swing!

Makkinga Construction of Thunder Bay, ramped things up last week when they began digging up Main Street to lay new water lines. This photo shows the work at the bottom of Main. By Monday they had advanced two blocks, to just across from Rainy River Hardware

Victory over Cancer!

Cancer survivors started things off with a Victory Lap at Rainy River's Relay for Life. Mason Kreger walked with his dad, Marty, a survivor, and threw up his arms with joy over the victory his dad has had over the disease! Part of a World Record!

These students were part of a three school team that planted 2,000 trees in 29 minutes as part of a larger effort to set a Guinness World Record last Wednesday.
