OFSAA bound: Six Owls advance to All Ontarios and win NWOSSAA crown

The RRHS Owls Senior Badminton team captured 1 Gold and 2 Silver medals at the NWOSSAA championships in Atikokan on Wednesday April 18th.
In doing so the team helped out their own cause by leading Team NORWOSSA to the NWOSSAA team title.

Morson Women’s Institute seeking new members

Carol Pratt, President of Morson W.I., has returned from her winter in Texas. Carol and Rosemary Laevens will hostess the April W.I. meeting at the Morson Hall, April 26, at l p.m. All members and those wishing to become members are urged to attend.

4–H club elects Vandenbrand as Pres.

On Wednesday April 18 the Explore 4-H club got together for their first meeting to go over the 4-H pledge, elect officers, get to learn members names and learn a little about 4-H. The elected officers are Brock Vandenbrand as President, Adrian Vandenbrand as Vice President , Jessica Haw as Secretary, Luc Desserre as Treasurer and Maria Vandenbrand as Press Reporter. Other members of the club are Brett Ploegman, Jordan Desserre, Jordan McKay, Nolan Short and Damon Short. The club’s leader so far is Kim Desserre, who also holds the meetings at her house.

Legion Ladies Aux. planning to send care packages overseas

The local branch of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary held their monthly meeting on April 11th, with president Hazel Tullet presiding. There were 16 members in attendance. There were no applications for membership and no initiations.

Are you an ice watcher?

It’s that time of year again. To me it is like the night before Christmas. Only in this case, it is the days before the lake goes out.
Last year, I went to the cottage on April 21. I could have gone Saturday on a snowmobile if I was brave enough to jump the water between the shore and the ice six feet away. I know I am not alone in watching the ice disappear from the lakes. It is part of every cottagers conversation.

The Rec. Board needs your help to survive

Letter to the Editor :
On May 2/07 6 p.m. the Rainy River Recreation Board will be having their annual meeting. The Recreation Centre and the board who directs its operations is an extremely important part of life in Rainy River and surrounding area. Without our Recreation Board and without a functioning Recreation Centre we would be in dire straights.
