Not much I can tell you at this time

The past few weeks have certainly been interesting ones on this page.
It was all prompted by a letter from former Mayor Glen Armstrong questioning the decision of the current Mayor Debbie Ewald to vacation with an unnamed party who is apparently engaged in a lawsuit with the Town of Rainy River.

Morson Fish Derby is this Saturday

It could be one of the best Morson Fish Derbies ever.
With weather expected to be mild and hardly any snow on Lake of the Woods, it is expected that many anglers will be able to fish just about any spot they want in the 10th Annual Morson Ice Fishing Live Release Derby this Saturday.

Town donates $10,000 to CT scanner

The Town of Rainy River did it’s bit Monday evening to help the district raise $1.5 million for a CT Scanner to be located in Fort Frances.
Council received a delegation from the Just Imagine Committee Monday evening. Committee chair Deanne Cunningham said, “Who would have imagined only three months ago that we would be here today so close to our goal.”

Local firemen off to curling nationals

Four local curlers are heading to a national championship after winning the Northern Ontario Firefighters Playdowns in Red Lake over the weekend.
The Tim Nordin rink, comprised of Nordin at skip, Dale Morrison-third, Dave Seguin-second and Dale Ossachuk-lead, represented both Rainy River and Dawson Volunteer Fire Depts. over the weekend. A total of 22 teams from as far away as Marathon and Thunder Bay competed there.

The rural landscape in Ontario is changing, and we are seeing more and more horse farms. There are about 300,000 horses in Ontario, and the numbers are increasing. These horses consume approximately 750,000 tonnes of hay every year. The U.S. has over 9 million horses, and many of these are located within trucking distance from Ontario.
