Dear Editor,
On Saturday, June 9th, my family and I, along with several relatives, were in Rainy River for the funeral of my grandmother, Jane Burnell.
Because of the large number of out of town guests we stayed in Baudette. When it came time to attend the funeral, we gave ourselves 45 minutes to make the five minute journey from

Dear Editor:
I am a parent of a four year old, as well as a seven month old. My oldest child has just completed the playschool program, which is held at the Toy Library, October though May. She enjoyed it immensely, and I feel that it has prepared her for junior kindergarten.

Dear Editor,
Once upon a time a village discovered a beautiful transparent gem buried under the town hall. Of course, the town was thrilled and set about to exhibit their rare find. But then someone noticed a tiny chip along one edge. We should remove that blemish before we show it off. It was decided to grind down the edge to match the chip’s depth. This was successfully accomplished but the heat from the grinder caused some translucence within the stone. We will correct the problem with a laser beam. When this was attempted, the beam interrupted the atomic crystalline structure. The gem crumbled. Oh how the towns‚ folk cried! If only we had left it alone! We should have improved the setting it was to displayed in.

Dear Editor,
Spring is here and the Rainy River Valley Giant Pumpkin Festival Committee has had their first meeting of the year.
In an effort to encourage more children to participate we have increased the cash prizes for the best junior growers. Area schools have been contacted to let them know seeds are available for the children on a first come first served basis.

Hello Ken,
I was reading the Rainy River Record and saw the recipe for getting rid of the smell of skunk. We also have that recipe (was in our local newspaper The Clipper) and one thing the writer didn’t include is NOT to store this mixture. It is very volatile, but it does work.

Dear Editor,
Does Rainy River really have a dog problem?
I read, with some dismay, the article pertaining to the new dog bylaw and the plans of the town to hire a dogcatcher. It would appear to me that most people are responsible dog owners. Do we need to go to this expense for the 2 or 3 dogs that seem to run loose. Surely there are more important things on which to spend the money.

Letter to the Editor :
On May 2/07 6 p.m. the Rainy River Recreation Board will be having their annual meeting. The Recreation Centre and the board who directs its operations is an extremely important part of life in Rainy River and surrounding area. Without our Recreation Board and without a functioning Recreation Centre we would be in dire straights.

Dear Editor,
I am writing to express my support and gratitude for a new initiative from our town’s elected officials. On Wednesday 11th April Dr. Beller and I were invited to meet with Mayor Deb Ewald, Councillors Gord Armstrong and Marilyn McAlister and Town Administrator Veldron Vogan. We were asked to give our views on any problems, concerns or issues that the clinic and our staff are faced with.

Dear Editor,
I would like to congratulate the community on the high quality and amount of youth programming they produced this winter.
We had several different sports and activities all running at the same time with a very high level of involvement and success; it was very impressive. Our children had fun, learned new skills and made friends. The amount volunteer time put in was incredible and so uplifting to see. Thank you to all the organizers, coaches and assistants that made all of this possible.
