It took a group of concerned parents to realize that there is a huge missing link in the addition counselling and treatment system in the Rainy River District.
Parents Against Illicit Narcotics (PAIN) formed in the past year and in February of this year pulled together experts from across the district to talk about what services are available for adults and are lacking for kids.

The air north of Rainy River at the Rainy River Internationals Radio Control Field was a buzz last Saturday with a whole gaggle of model aircraft from high performance aerobatic fixed wing, to jet propelled, to helicopters, to scale model WWII Warbirds.

I have been asked many times about both of these fungus diseases, so here goes.
Black Knot
This affects plum and cherry trees, both wild and domestic. The organism which causes it is a fungus. The spores are so small that humans can not see them.

What is standing hay worth and what is a fair price? The price of standing hay is what the market determines it is, not necessarily what we think it should be. From the seller’s point of view, the price should cover the cost of production and provide a profit. However, there are limits to what buyers can and will pay that are related to the price of livestock, as well as the availability and price of other forages.

I watched early Sunday morning as 28 young people accompanied by their parents bounced in under the tent at the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship, With their fishing rods firmly in one hand, their tackle boxes in the other and either mom and dad carrying their packsacks filled with water, rain gear, sun screen , shyly they approached the table to find out who they were fishing with in the KidPro.

Letter to the Editor,
On behalf of the Great Beaver Cardboard and Duct Tape Boat Race Committee of the Rainy River Recreation Board, we were delighted with the very successful completion of another year celebrating this Fun Family Event. Although the number of entrants was down this year, everyone still had a great time and our participants put on a spectacular show as evidenced by the broad smiles and gales of laughter.

Letter to the Editor,
Recently we were at Lake of the Woods on vacation and I ventured into town one day.
What a disappointment to see the main street of the town where I grew up. On the West of side of Main Street (4th Street) I discovered that there were more empty buildings between Broadway Avenue and Atwood Avenue than there were full.
